Default Ducati Diavel

The guys done at AMS were kind enough to let me borrow one of their Diavel's for the weekend. I setup a little GoPro on just ****s and giggles... I discovered that wearing a helmet has more important effects than saving your life, it keeps you from looking like a floppy faced jackass on the tollway.

Just imagine how much worse it would have been without the bikini fairing...

What did you think about the Diavel. I saw a few of them up at a dealership and I wasn't impressed by the looks. I sat on one and the suspension just sank. Seems more like a cruiser rather than a naked/standard bike. What market is Ducati going after with this bike?

What do you weigh? Springs are designed to work within a weight range. If you are not within that range it is less than optimal.

It is a cruiser. Their Monster/Multistrada/Hypermotord/Streetfighter lines are naked/standard bikes.

It has an adjuster knob for the rear suspension just under the seat pan but I am with you on the looks. Its kinda big in the front and tall in the back. Check out the modified Diavel they have in the showroom. It's smoking hot which means you can make one look right. The thing is wicked fast right out of the box and really comfortable. I love the way I can flat foot the bike, just wish it had front leg rests. It's not your average cruiser but it can't be confused with a sport bike, it just won't snap thru a turn like a short wheelbase.

All that said, I would buy today if it carried passengers better. I want a bike I can take the kids on

I am 175lbs. Does it compete with the Z1000, speed triple, etc? Or is it a little more cruiser than standard/naked style?

Oh that is interesting. I don't hate the looks, it has a few angles that is looks good in.

The Diavel is Ducati's V-Rod. Purists aren't likely to ever like it, let alone love it. However, it brings in a fresh crowd to the marque.

I was chatting with Ben Spies about this a few weeks ago. It's a popular bike with road racers and ex-racers.

Less than 500lbs, comfortable, powerful, with top shelf brakes and lightweight wheels (on the Carbon versions). If you ever wanted a cruiser that did not tip 700lbs when full of fluids, with decent suspension and great brakes, then the Diavel is worth considering.

Mark,

Here's the bike I was talking about today. $65K, only 100 to the US.
Link.

I like the Diavel, although I have not ridden it. When I bought my Monster 1100 EVO (gone now) I gave it consideration, that's for sure. Marty and Jeff at AMS have gotten into the 9's in the 1/4 from what I recall. In a perfect world I'd have a Diavel, a Multistrada, a (fill in the blank)....
