These things are cool as puck! 2 kilometer distance and 4k video streaming... I'm ready to spy on China... oh wait, this is made there (that is some irony for the people's liberation army). :roll eyes:

Looks cool! I must've missed the "spying on the hot neighbors laying out by the pool" moments....LOL

If this is a quad rotor, I have played with them a bit and they have gotten incredibly sophisticated with GPS control and even the ability to return if they lose their signal or get low on battery. You simply set a minimum altitude, say 150 feet, so you know they will clear all the obstacles and they come back and descend to where they started from

Yes, yes and I couldn't find the right neighbors to spy on... doesn't the Men's Club have a pool on top?

It has GPS, so it can return to place it took off from or to the remote control unit. The gps also allows it to hold its position regardless of cross winds, set way points and POI for camera shots, plus it uses visual recognition to orient itself indoors (that tech is a little shaky tho). It has a range of 1.2-1.4 miles if you have line-of-sight, it switches to a thing called the "light bridge" which I assume is a high powered IR. I have it out to about 1500ft, 500ft up and besides the video getting a little choppy, it's solid as a rock.

It's just a matter of time before the cops tell me I'm having to much fun but until then... It's on like Bangagong!

Company is DJI, model Inspire1. They have several models, all of them are pretty good. The Inspire1 is a model built around the camera. They make some that are focused on towing capacity or flight time, it depends on what you want to do.

If your shopping, look around there are lots of smaller custom builders that make cool stuff.

What is 'towing capacity' on these?

Is there a reason you need to stand on the chair? It doesn't seem that the additional 18" of elevation would make much difference.

If you mean "what is it"... It is the ability to carry additional objects, like sensor arrays. I was standing on the chair because the copter blades build up enough static electricity to fry Luckenbach.

Was that a lesson learned the hard way?

No no, just kidding about the static (true on big copters, not so much here). I was actually standing up there to get a better angle on the bird as it came over the fence. It's really easy to lose perspective on the position of the that thing (I learned that lesson the hard way).

The Inspire is so cool. Huge improvement from the Phantom. Sweet pick up!
