I need to bump up my media storage for iTunes. My 2TB drive is full... ridiculous. I remember the first hard drive I personally tinkered with was 30 megabytes, it was the size of a toaster and it sounded like the 747 warming up. I thought, "who could possibly use 30mb?" I thought the same thing when I installed the 2TB drive a few months ago. Now, I can easily see 4TB not being enough.

Just found this http://www.livedrive.com/features/packages

I'm going to confirm but it looks like they offer unlimited storage on multiple computers for as low as 6.95 mo.

Good find Scott! Trying to figure out if the briefcase function would be worth it for me, but I probably should back up all my files at an offsite location. Never thought about the fire prospect.

Careful with those bittorrent downloads. I got a cease and desist order (via certified letter) from Columbia Pictures last week. Also, I got a separate letter from my ISP threatening to drop us if we did not stop downloading illegal content. Turns out my infamous son (who by the way wrecked his car again!) has downloaded more movies than anyone can imagine. We have been threatened with a lawsuit if there is one more infraction at our address.

Sounds like bad news all around for you guys, I hope things turn around soon. I have to deal with those nastygram letters from content owners at work and I've never heard of them sending a certified letter. At least it's a C&D so you can let them know you've locked down your open wifi so that issue won't happen again pesky neighbors must have been stealing your bandwidth.

I don't use bittorrent anymore but if anyone out there is using it for your media backups check out peer-gardian to provide at least a little security. Only connecting with encryped peers tends to help too.

I went with Carbonite. No peripheral devices allowed but I have a big hard **** so it's all good. I would avoid LiveDrive unless your hard **** is really small.

A case for off-site backup.

I'm thinking video makes up a good chunk of that space used. I didn't go the offsite route, but did install a 8 TB media server in my house a few years ago. I'm not protected from fire, but did build it with a RAID 5 array so disk failure won't wipe out my files. I still have plenty of free space, but HD content uses it up fast.

So is there a service that allows storage of ALL my files? Apparently, Carbonite will delete something if I delete it off my HD. I'd just like a site that hosts all my files, that I can access from multiple computers, and not have to host on my home computer at the same time.

So are you looking to have an offsite backup of your data for archival purposes or to have your data stored offsite and accessed in realtime from the offsite facility via your broadband connection?

To have all my data backed up offsite, and be able to access it. I don't want to have only a backup of what's on my computer's hard drive. I've got 1.5 TB hard drive in my new computer, and two 250 GB external hard drives, as well as other computers with information. I'd like to combine everything together at one offsite storage location, and would like to access everything from my home computer (a computer at another location would be really nice also). I guess basically an offsite server? I'm guessing this isn't possible?

I consider all my photos/videos important, and get 16gb-20gb worth of that each time I do photos/videos. I don't keep business documents and such on my computer.

If that was the case.. i would burn each project to a Blu ray and keep them offsite.

My Mozy subscription is up for renewal, and their lack of an unlimited plan was the deal breaker (had bought a 2-yr plan right before they killed it). Trying Backblaze now.

Forgot about this thread, I ended up getting a 4 year deal with Crashplan. I actually had to throttle the upload as they were able to max out my 25Mbps of upstream bandwidth. For the price I don't think it can be beat.
