Default Watches where do y'all get them?

I went to Jared's today and looked at some Tissot's and Tag's but the entire time I felt like I was being jerked around and over charged. Even when we tried to do financing the entire time he was "fluffing" my application which, I know he had good intentions for, felt very sleazy. Where do y'all go to get watches?

I've found this site to be helpful.

http://www.chronocentric.com/watches/brands.shtml

It's not really about where you buy a watch, it's about the real value of a specific watch and the brand.

As the site will explain there are a lot of brands which jewelry shops try to pass off as 'luxury' watches with inflated prices - but really aren't. My experiences are that all jewelry shops are basically the same, and unless you know the sales droid personally - they will try to screw you, and not in a good way.

These 2 guy's are top notch...

David - I have bought from him previously... Me's in Mass.
http://shop.ebay.com/ideal-watches/m..._ipg=50&_sop=1

Jon - He's in MO, I have buddies who have bought from him...
http://shop.ebay.com/generalwar/m.ht..._ipg=50&_sop=3

I'm sure there are other great sellers...Just need to know what to look for. There are a TON of watch forums as well. May want to search for them...

You all may check with Arturo as well, he is a jewelry wholesaler and gets a lot of unique stuff. He doesn't post often but is usually at the meets.. although he is currently on his honeymoon.

Heh, Tom I can't afford any of those on ebay, I'll talk to Arturo next time I see him, though I don't know how much he'll be able to help me I'm looking for something around 3-700. Something nice, I'm tired of not having a watch and I love chronographs. Really wanna get my hands on a Tissot T Racing..prs200? its something like that I just love the clasp and chrono action on it.

There are plenty of amazon watches that are not warranty-able (they're "grey-market" goods). You need to be cautious of who the actual seller is on Amazon. If it's actually shipped and sold from Amazon, then you should be good. However if it's not "shipped and sold from Amazon" then there's a 95% chance it's a grey-market item. You can tell a grey-market item by going to the "jewler's" website and reviewing their warranty information -- They'll list the fact that they offer their own warranty for 1 or more years which is your sign that it's grey-market.

How about a Tag Heuer Monaco? Steve McQueen wore one in his movie Le Mans. Great looking piece, check it out, and let me know what you think. I had one for years. If you are interested, I have a solid hook-up for you.. PM me if interested, or leave me a # where I can call you.

I have a few decent genuine watches...Tag, Omega, Rollie, etc. But I could go out and spend $500 on a rep of a $9k gen...and it would fool some authorized dealers.

That alone, will cause me to pause before I spend big 4 figures on a nice watch.

I've bought my watches from Ben Bridges, Eiseman's and Jared's. Eiseman's and Bachendorf's are my prefer stores.

As someone who is genuinely into watches, I would not recommend getting a replica no matter how authentic they look.

I have a Tissot PRS200 that I no longer wear if you don't mind pre-own.

If you want new, I would recommend talking to Arturo.

Bachendorf's for my wife and I but they get pretty pricey. For a good watch at a really good price with excellent design and Chrono I say check out Citizen Eco Drive. They're like the Glock when it comes to watches. My wife and I both had one before we got our Breitlings and they run solid never ahead never behind. Was recently at Fuller's Jewelry located off of Marsh Lane just north of Beltline and they had a pretty impressive collection of Citizen watches. Should easily be in your price plus very reliable timepiece. My .02 Cents!

Thanks all, I will take all of that into consideration.

Jragan, thanks for the advice. I'll keep that in mind.

Tom the Monaco looks epic but, it looks super pricey. I'll have to get back to you on it when I get my paycheck in and see how it goes.

Vh_bu, if you don't mind pm'ing me a price that would be great it's a nice looking watch.

RGV I'll check out citizen, i realllly am starting to like the rotary vintage skeleton. However I will check out Citizen.

I'll be at the meet this saturday hopefully if my podiatrist doesn't decide to chop up my foot this weekend.

Figure +/-30% off the Monaco from the parent of the nicest group of Jewelery Stores in Dallas. I think when I got mine in the late 90's it was 40% off, but TAG is a more well known brand now.

Go swiss or go home. Japanese watches are appliances.

I would go with authenticwatches.com, bought several from them, great prices, great service.
